Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the 24-year-old Karmapa Lama.
According to an interview by Rashmee Roshan Lall of the Times of India, the Karmapa Lama Ogyen Trinley Dorje, one of the top holy leaders of the Buddhist faith, happens to be an avid fan of violent war video games. As the 24-year-old holy man said, these sorts of games can be seen “as something of an emotional therapy,” or even an alternate form of meditation.
Though Jack Thompson and other righteous crusaders against violence in video game form are less prolific today than they were several years ago, as a gamer, this strikes me as a decisive blow for our side. If a top-ranking Buddhist holy man can see the positive side of video game violence, surely this would make a compelling argument against video game censorship?
