Finally, the end of this tale with Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate. We last left him dead and we know resume with Guybrush in the underworld. In this final quest to save the world from the evil pirate God LeChuck Guybrush starts out having to escape from his gravesite in the underworld. This review will conclude the Tales of Monkey Island series with a Micro-Review score for the episode and an overall score for the series. To see my opinions on other chapters please read the other reviews.

I quite like the story in this episode. It takes place in a totally new environment which is a nice change from the Flotsam Island of last episode. Basically, you run around exploring the underworld in the beginning transitioning into a series of using portals to go from island to island collecting things so one can enter the final boss battle. What stuck out the most were some of the characters. Two real new characters were presented which were interesting. My favorite was Galeb who is basically a confused old dead guy who can be quite funny. The other is just a thief character who is pretty standard and typical. Galeb though definitely brings some fun to the mix. The continuing main characters also provide for a very epic ending and conclusion. Including a few twists that land in a mostly satisfying end with no cliffhangers. My only complaint is the entire ordeal with Elaine planning everything out, it seems a bit too farfetched and cliche. Overall this is one of the best stories in the Tales of series. In terms of puzzles they were overall challenging, but many of them went off on tangents, like what happened often in the series, and one has no clue what to do. The final boss fight was very tedious in this regard. However, most of the other puzzles flowed nicely.

The puzzles are in this one are non logical and involve running around doing these randomly. It really seems like this entire game was rushed. You are usually running around doing random actions. For instance walking back and forth on a carpet randomly to figure out a puzzle.

The music is very similar to the other versions. The underworld theme is very nice and I like it. Lots of good new scores for this final chapter that make it pretty much. Voice acting is once again very well done.

This is a very good conclusion to the Tales of Monkey Island series. I throughly enjoyed it as a whole and cannot wait to play what comes next for Telltale. As a fan of the Monkey Island series I feel this was a well done continuation and I hope maybe a harder and more connected sequel comes out again one day. Overall for this episode, I feel since the story, puzzles, and music were well done it should receive an 8.5/10.

And now for the overall score. The last several months I have always looked forward to the new installments. I feel many of them could have used polish and a few, namely episode 4, was rushed. The series as an entire game is well done though and as I said a proper continuation of what is a genius series. Therefore I award the series overall an 8.6/10.

The Tales of Monkey Island: Episode 5- Rise of the Pirate God will be released December 9th, 2009 for $9.00 for the PC and later this year for 1000 Wii Points on WiiWare. You can also snag a better deal by buying the complete Tales of Monkey Island for $35.00 for the PC.
