Until Dawn: Rush of Blood Announced as a New “Standalone” Game for PlayStation VR

Fans of the horror-themed, interactive storytelling PS4 game, Until Dawn, will be happy to know that there is additional content coming their way in 2016. The developer, Supermassive Games, recently released gameplay footage for the new game titled, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, which debuted at Paris Games Week.

Don’t think of this upcoming title as a sequel, though. Simon Harris (Executive Producer, Until Dawn) has made it very clear that this will be a standalone game for PlayStation VR, which is not to be confused as DLC for the existing Until Dawn title. “It’s not DLC, or anything like that. It’s its own product for PlayStation VR; it’s just set in the world of Until Dawn.” Harris said in the report originally covered by VG247.

One unique feature already seen in Rush of Blood that differs from first Until Dawn, is the whole ‘on-rails’ experience. While the original Until Dawn allowed the player to control characters from a third person perspective, Rush of Blood will put gamers in a first-person view.

Gamers can also expect a well-balanced pacing of slow and fast moments in the game, which should hopefully allow for players to overcome potential motion sickness with the PlayStation VR headset and controls using the PlayStation Move.

No official release date has been given for the game, simply because the PlayStation VR isn’t available to the public yet. Gamers can expect the PlayStation VR to be released in the first half of 2016.

If you are itching to play the original before Rush of Blood comes out, you still have plenty of time. As a huge fan of the interactive storytelling genre and cheesy horror movies, I can personally vouch that this game authentically pays tribute to both categories. What are you waiting for – go pick up Until Dawn now!
