Following disappointing  Q3 results Ubisoft has taken the decision to push back the release of key titles Splinter Cell: Conviction and RUSE. Both games which where scheduled for release very soon are now due in April of this year.

Ubisoft blamesa slow down in the DS market, amongst other things, for this latest decision saying that:

“The considerable contraction in the DS market during the year particularly affected Ubisoft, leading to a €160 million, or almost 50 per cent, year-on-year drop in the Company’s casual segment sales”

Ubisoft say they now intend to refocus there resources on to there major franchises for the PS3 and 360:

“The 2010-11 line-up – which is stronger in franchises for 360 and PS3 – reflects our refocusing efforts and should enable us to both win market share and enhance our profitability”.

This announcement comes after Activision announces that Modern Warfare 2 has hit $1bn in sales only after 2 months of being on the market, proving that developers really need up there game and ship those big titles to survive in the current climate.
