Toyota Prius: Now With NES Controls

These researchers have managed to rig a Prius’ (and Ford Escape’s) computer to be driven by an NES controller, similar to how you would drive in Mario Kart. It is in no way perfect, but it’s still an interesting idea. The two who made this were funded by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) in order to raise awareness about the over-reliance on computer systems in cars. One of the two had the following to say to say:

We would love for everyone to start having a discussion about this, and for manufacturers to listen and improve the security of cars.

Could the future of cars be in game controllers rather than steering wheels? Probably not.
