First of all, I would like to start and say that I am of course, a massive bat-fan. My fandom is only beaten by my passion for Formula 1. So when I heard that this game was coming out, I was undoubtedly ecstatic.
Batman – Arkham Asylum is for both PS3 and 360, with an updated physics engine for the PC released last month (September). This reunites just a small amount of the rogues gallery that batman has, but there are many, many cameos and Easter eggs in which avid fans of The Dark Knight will pick up on.
So, straight onto the story. The beginning of the game is a mix of in-game cut scenes (which, the entire game uses, no CGI here folks) and Gameplay. It starts off with the Joker being captured all-to-easily by batman, after threatening to blow up parts of Gotham City. Joker is taken to the ‘Madhouse’ of Amadeus Arkham. Now, first I must point out, that the voice actors (Kevin Conroy for Batman, Mark Hamill for the Joker) return from the Bruce Timm cartoon of 1994. These two have had roughly 4-5 years of sparring with each other in their on screen alter-egos, and it’s extremely refreshing to hear all the puns and the Batmans ‘empty threats’kehat joker labels oh-so-often. So to cut it short, after a reunion with Commissioner Gordon, the joker is taken into the prison with Batman stood behind a double-thick pane of glass which means he can only watch as the Joker kills both the guard and the doctor, and has his squeeze Harley Quinn (Also voice by her animated series counter-part, Arleen Sorkin) disengages the electronic barrier separating The joker from the entrance to all of Arkham.
