Well it’s that time of the year folks, yes it’s GDC the time where we tend to hear things from developers they really shouldn’t tell us like ‘The sky’s blue’ and ‘Pig’s Fly’.

The first GDC Rumour we have for you is about Little Big Planet and it’s possible second title, now last Novemeber UK Developer Media Molecule said last November that releasing a full sequel is something it’d “never want to do,” with level designer Danny Leaver adding it’d “be the most counter-productive thing you could do, I think.”

Producer Martin Lynagh said in the same interview, “I think what you’ve seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that’s the way it’s going to continue. We have a lot of stuff coming out, especially next year.”

Last week it was announced that Sony has purchased Media Molecule, now with a Sony press conference looming at GDC and all the confusion circling Little Big Planet we would hazard a guess of something BIG coming, is it a second title or some really awesome DLC? Tune in to the press conference on March. 10 to find out.

Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XIII case mention DLC

The back of the Xbox 360 version of the Final Fantasy XII case has revealed that the RPG will in fact have downloadable content. According to the box the game will have “game content download” which is standard labeling for games with DLC.

Seeing as the Xbox 360 looks like it will have DLC, the PlayStation 3 is bound to have it as well. But will we hear about DLC soon from GDC or at E3 in the summer?

What should be in the DLC? Let us know in the comments!

The console war took an expensive turn June of 2007 when Microsoft reportedly paid $50 million dollars for the exclusive rights GTA IV’s downloadable expansions.  Analysis of a Take-Two fiscal conference call of that year suggested that Microsoft paid the publisher a cool $25 million to keep each episode an Xbox360 exclusive.

And they were, until now – Rockstar games just announced that both “The Lost and the Damned” and “The Balled of Gay Tony” will be available for PC and PS3 on March 30th, 2010. So what happened to that Microsoft exclusivity? According to VGChartz, the Xbox 360 release of GTA IV sold 1.43 million units more than it’s PS3 counterpart, totaling 7.62m in sales vs PS3’s 6.19m.  Doing the math, Microsoft would have had to make about $6.50 for each game sold to make up for the cost of exclusivity – not counting any profits made from the DLC itself.

So was the buyout a success? Probably, or at the least it’s probable that Microsoft broke even.

GTA IV downloadable content goes live for PS3 and PC in March.
