Smash Invitational Players Announced

Today, Nintendo released the above video showing the contestants that will be competing at this year’s Smash Invitational, whixh was announced last month. While there aren’t as many players as the one back in 2014, it’s still a full list of top-class Smash players from both the Melee and Smash 4 competitive scenes. What is a little surprising though is the lack of both HungryBox and Mew2King being invited, as H-Box made a name for himself at the last Smash Invitational when he called out Reggie for an exhibition match, which he got at the Nintendo World Championships the following year (and, you know, being the Melee champion); as well as Mew2King recently becoming a Nintendo Ambassador.

Nonetheless, H-Box has called Reggie out again over Twitter, hoping to get in on the Smash Switch action.

And as shown in the above Tweet, the announcement showed that there will be exhibition matches with other invited guests, who will probably be Youtubers brought in to advertise the event. Personally I’m hoping for the Dunkey vs Sky match that we’ve been waiting years for.

And hey, we may even get Etika onstage like he’s been begging for. Regardless of who it is, we’ll likely be hearing more news soon in the month leading up to the tournament and E3. Stay tuned for any updates.
