Is Nintendo going to be announcing something major at GDC soon? One of VideoGamer‘s sources seems to think so. The source, an employee at a “major international publisher” had this to say:
“Just heard a rumour that you may be interested in: Nintendo are going to announce a new platform at GDC. Some devs have already started work on it.”
While the source was confident of the platform’s existence, he noted that it was only a possibility that the console would be revealed at GDC. While we’re also sure that Nintendo has some sort of new platform under wraps (it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out), we doubt that it’ll se the light of day at GDC. Why would Nintendo be ready to announce a new console so soon?
We all know they are working on one because it has basically been confirmed. According to rumors it may be using the tegra chip but there is no way Nintendo can be ready so soon to show us anything. If there is an announcement coming at GDC, we reckon that a release is far off though it has been said that some developers have supposedly begun work on it already. It could always be a Wii 2, but that also seems to soon since the Wii is still doing fairly well with sales.
