Project Sora Has Been Dissolved

Project Sora, the collaborative development studio comprising of talent from Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai’s Sora Ltd. (and the studio best known for the outstanding Kid Icarus: Uprising), has been dissolved. News of the studio’s June 30th closure is now public.

While a studio closing is never a good thing, keep in mind that Project Sora was always meant to be a temporary studio. I’m seeing a lot sites report that Sora Ltd. itself is closing which is absolutely false. Project Sora was put together for the sole purpose of creating Kid Icarus: Uprising and so, with Kid Icarus now released, it would only make sense that the collaborative studio has closed its doors. And, of course, this doesn’t mean the end of Nintendo’s work with Sora Ltd. either, considering we all know now that Sora Ltd. and Namco are working on the next two iterations of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.
