Pokemon Smash Shows Off X&Y Footage

We finally have some more gameplay footage of Pokemon X and Y, in which we see the battle system as well as overworld gameplay. Some of the notable things in this video include surfing, which looks much better than expected, and shows that we still ride around on our black blobs of Pokemon. We also get to listen to the battle music, which sounds great, and some of the first battle animation footage of Xerneas, as well as several other Pokemon. What really looks great to me though, is that you’re not confined to a grid that you have to walk in, it’s free movement like most games. The fact that they could pull this off and still make a 3D world that looks and feels like Pokemon game is extremely impressive to me, and hopefully others will feel the same.

Pokemon X & Y release worldwide later this year on October 12.
