Pokémon GO is Arriving on Apple Watch

In case you want more Nintendo from today’s Apple Event, John Hanke, Niantic’s CEO, took to the stage to announce that Pokémon GO is coming to the Apple Watch.

Don’t get to excited, as it should be treated as an additional feature of sorts to the phenomenal app, with attention to fitness. You’ll be able to check and be notified for Pokémon nearby (although accessing the proper game on you iOS device will be needed in order to catch it), as well as keeping track of your steps, burnt calories, your egg hatching, and the PokéStops you have visited.

This is no doubt a smart move on Niantic’s part, but almost makes the Pokémon GO Plus, an upcoming accessory coming to the game that does most of what the app can do on an Apple Watch, almost redundant (to owners of the watch at least). Nevertheless, both devices of playing the game outside of the game itself are sure to be a big help to trainers hoping to catch ’em all.
