The moment is finally upon us, fellow American Pokemon fans: Pokemon GO field test sign-ups are officially open for the United States!

Niantic Labs (the development studio behind the popular augmented reality game, Ingress) made the exciting announcement yesterday on their blog. To have a chance to participate, users simply have to visit the sign-up form located on the Pokemon GO portal page, and input their e-mail address and full name. Aspiring Pokemon GO field testers who also play Ingress on a regular basis have the additional options of inputting their Agent Name and Agent Level.

While it is unclear when users would be notified about receiving an invite to the field test, Niantic was gracious to elaborate a bit on what criteria it uses during the selection process, which consists of factors like:

  • OS types
  • Experience in real-world games
  • Luck

I can’t help but wonder if the “experience in real-world games” factor is intended to give priority to users who have experience playing Ingress. As a fellow Ingress player myself (Viva el Resistance!), I can only hope so! For those unfamiliar with the game, you can read up on it in our review.

If you still want to sign up for a chance to participate in the field test, it’s not too late! A link to the sign-up form can be found below. Good luck to everyone signing up!
