The frugal, commercialized version of a VR headset may finally be on the market soon. Moments ago, Sony announced that their own headset, PlayStation VR, will be available for purchase in October 2016. The asking price is a modest $400. When compared to the other VR headsets on the market (HTC Vive, Oculus, etc.), Sony’s product comes out on top as the ‘financially affordable’ option.

Sony Computer Entertainment’s CEO, Andrew House, made the announcement at the annual Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. House continued on by stating that about fifty games will contain PlayStation VR support at product launch.

The specifications for the PlayStation VR headset can be found below.

PlayStation VR Specifications:

Availability: October 2016
Display: 5.7” OLED Display
Resolution: 1920×1080
