Nintendo’s announcements at Gamescom 2015

Whilst no gaming event of the year can compete with E3, Gamescom is pretty high up in terms of big gaming comferences, given it’s the largest annual trade fair for the hobby in the world. So Nintendo couldn’t just let visitors play upcoming games. They managed to announce details regarding the release of their biggest experiences in the coming months. Also, please note I’m from the UK, so all of this if from the UK site, but don’t expect details to be drastically different.

The big one is the release date of the latest Legend of Zelda game, Tri Force Heroes. The co-op adventure will be released on the 23rd of October. Still no update on Hyrule Warriors Legends, the 3DS port of the Wii U crossover, and not a word on the highly anticipated entry for the Wii U.

On the topic of dates, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water will be launching on the Wii U eShop on October 30th, just in time for Halloween. There will also be a trial version, that will give players the chance to play both the prologue and the first two chapters of the game, and from there they can buy the remaining chapters. A physical release is also planned as a limited edition. Included in this package is the game (duh), a double-sized poster, an art book, four Spirit Photographs, and a SteelBook cover.

That isn’t the only Limited Edition announced. Xenoblade Chronicles X (which is playable for the first time in Europe) will also be getting this treatment, as it comes with the physical copy of the game, a SteelBook cover, posters of the Cover Art and the World Map, and an artbook. There will also be a Wii U bundle, which comes with a Premium Black Wii U, the physical copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X, the two posters and artbook. If you want to see some of the gameplay, make sure to tune in to Twitch.tv/live this Saturday (8th August) from 3PM to 4PM UK time. And in case you haven’t played the original, Xenoblade Chronicles is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and buying it enables you to get a £9 discount off of Xenoblade Chronicles X, as long as it is within two weeks of the game’s launch.

There are other small announcements as well. Devil’s Third, due out in three weeks over in Europe, has received a launch trailer that you can check out below.

IGN Live will be showcasing Star Fox Zero on Saturday as well, at 5:45 PM UK time, and Area 3 and Titania will be shown. Super Mario Maker will be on display at the show floor, which is a given seeing as its release is just a little bit over a month. The latest Chibo-Robo title Zip Lash, along with Little Battlers eXperience (or LBX) and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, will make an appearance at Gamescom. Recent Wii U titles are also showcased, being Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. and Splatoon, with the first two offering contests throughout the show. A variety of Indie games will also be playable, ranging from the F-Zero spiritual successor FAST Racing Neo, Shovel Knight DLC dubbed Plague of Shadows, in addition to the highly anticipated Mighty No. 9, which has sadly been delayed.

Will you be getting any of these titles at launch? Or will watching footage from the event persuade you to get some eventually?
