With the upcoming wave of Virtual Reality devices coming to the gaming market, it should come as no surprise that big game developers want to get in on the VR hype train. Nintendo appears to be the latest company to express interest, as Nintendo, at their most recent investor meeting, has reportedly made a brief statement that they are looking into VR. This news comes from Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan Games, and the person who recently reported that Nintendo plans on making a Super Smash Bros. game a launch title on the upcoming NX.
So Nintendo (at the briefing) just said no change in plans for the smartphone app roll out. Says they “are looking” at VR – with no details.

At this point there’s no telling what this could actually mean, or if it could even happen. If it does though, we have to expect that the NX will be able to support higher resolutions and framerates. If it doesn’t, then there’s no chance of a Nintendo VR headset taking off, because it will cause motion sickness and headaches the likes of which haven’t been seen since the Virtual Boy. Personally though, I would love to see Nintendo make some kind of foray into VR, as long as it’s executed properly. Only time will tell though, and maybe at E3, we’ll see some more about this.
