The BBFC confirmed yesterday that it has granted the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 a certificate of 18, which will make it the first game ever in the series to receive the highest age restriction that the BBFC can give out.
This comes as quite a surprise considering previous games in the series have been given ratings of BBFC 15 and PEGI 16+ which in its self was a surprise considering the execution scenes we seen in World at War, judging by this the level of violence must be quite extreme in the new title or BBFC were being quite harsh, we don’t have a lot of information about the ruling but we do know that they made there decision based upon 45 minutes of in game footage and that the game it’s self has 40 minutes of cut scenes in total.
Something a lot of other media outlets including ourselves have noticed is that the certificate refers to the game simply as Modern Warfare 2 which caused a lot of backlash from fans last time it was brought up.
With this new 18 rating and the harsh price who knows what will become of Modern Warfare 2 have Activision shot themselves in foot we hope not.
