When I wrote the last article, detailing how to redeem your points into eShop codes, the Wii U’s eShop was down for maintenance, so I could not show the steps involved in applying the redeemed codes. Now that eShop is back up, I can now walk you through that process as well. As with the previous article, the demo is image heavy, so to continue …
Everything at this point is performed on the GamePad. Start off at the main eShop screen. You can see in the image below that I have a starting balance of $6.70. Click the section of the GamePad that shows the current balance to continue.
You will then get the option to add funds via prepaid card or a credit card. Choose the prepaid card.
Since you don’t actually have a card, ignore the image shown and just tap the “Enter the code.” field to bring up the keyboard.
After entering in the code that the website generated, click OK. If the code entered is valid, you will get the following screen.
This will tell you that you will be adding $5.00 to your account. Click “Add” to complete the process to get this final screen.
The $5.00 has been added to my account, which now has a balance of $11.70.
I hope this article and the previous one helps out someone, as the process is not entirely user-friendly. Since it sounds like that all of the download codes are in $5 increments, I would highly recommend that if you eShop frequently, keep using the codes as you accumulate them. You don’t want to be stuck in March of 2015 going through a list of 20-30 $5 codes, one at a time, before they are no longer usable.
