Well, considering I just recieved my Xbox 360 for Xmas, I was looking build a catalog of older Xbox games as well. This could put me at a disadvantage. Although, I wonder why they decided to stop only Xbox trade ins? I mean, I understand why they would keep doing business with the PS2 (games are STILL being developed for that system), but wouldn’t it make more sense to kill off the Gamecube trade ins? There really isn’t a whole lot of buzz about that system these days.
well the gamecube games can still be played on the Wii so it “technically” (I say that loosely) stills has a market, a reasonably big 1 too. There’s no market left for the Xbox really since the same gamer demographics that uses the Xbox now shifted to either the 360 or PS3. The crappy 360 backward compatibility definitely doesn’t help retain a market for the xbox games so as a retailer they’re just phrasing out an obsolete console similar to how the kinda just phased out the dreamcast and other older consoles.
“Crappy backwards compatibility”? Current models have a back log of around 478 games. Granted, it’s only 51% of all Xbox games, but as long as it can still run Jet Set Radio Future and Shenmue 2, this is not a problem for me. At least it even has backwards compatibility (lookin’ at you, PS3).
LOL. My biggest gripe with backwards compatibility with the current gen systems is the PS3. Each model having a different level of backwards compatibility. Which models plays what?! I could tell you when the first 2 PS3 models were the only ones out…but I can’t tell ya now (to wikipedia!), lol.
When I saw this I wondered if they were still accepting GameCube trade ins as well…I guess they are. It’s kinda funny to see the Xbox go out before the GameCube at GameStop, Wii backwards compatibility or not. Oh well, there could be some nice sales soon…:)….but…I doubt it…we know GameStop
It’s backward compatible…. who knew? >.> Micro’s not emphasizing that message enough then. I owned an Elite for months now and I’ve always been under the impression it’s backward capability was crap. And in response the PS3 who cares I have a launch console ;p, so who cares. I can also tell you the backward compatibility of the PS3 in simple term all of them are compatibility for the PS1 games, launch 60 Gb models are hardware compatible with the PS2, 2nd make the 80GB version is software emulated, and now they just crap out in general. Shame they did cut it out though i still remember that backward compatibility was my reason for getting the launch 60Gb.
