Fable 2 Achievements

Published by Alan Ellis in Business. |

I have decided to make a guide for fable II’s Achievements, so here it is. Have fun getting them.

Intro -

For those of you about to get stuck into Fable II, there’s a massive amount of things for you to get doing to earn those achievements. These range from story things to co-op things and also to bedroom activities. The aim of this guide is to help you get a few of them.

So far this is just a quick and dirty guide to get you going.

There is still more to come so please contribute and help me make this guide better.

The Guide -

Animal Achievements

· The Chicken Kicker (5)

Make this the first achievement you get. You’ll notice some chickens when you follow your sister at the start of the game. Kick one of them down the street and if it flies far enough, you’ll get an achievement. Keep kicking chickens to get the Chicken Chaser title available for free. No achievement but a cute bonus nevertheless.

· The Hunter (5)

The clue is in the achievement description. You’ll find bunny rabbits running around the green fields of Bowerstone Lake but you have to turn your safety OFF to actually hit them. Do this by pressing down on the D-pad when the skull icon appears. You might need to draw your weapon first with Y.

· The Gargoyle (25)

This achievement is for finding all 50 Gargoyles in Fable II’s world. You can check the regional map to see how many Gargoyles are in the area. They need to be shot to ’register’ and the key to finding them is to listen out for the weird voices they emit. If you hear voices but can’t see anyone around, chances are it’s a Gargoyle…

Dog Achievements

· The Pooch Pamperer (5)

In the gypsy village when you begin life as an adult, you’re directed over a chest before you can leave. In the chest is a rubber ball. Wait for your dog to sit near you, hold down on the D-pad and hit the shrinking zone to throw the ball and play fetch.

· The Archaeologist (5)

While you explore, you will sometimes hear your dog bark. When he barks, it will either say ’Treasure’ or ’Dig Spot’ above his head. If it says ’Dig Spot’, follow your dog until he starts digging, then walk to the area he’s digging until a spade prompt appears. Press down on the D-pad to dig and get the achievement.

· The Dog Trainer (5)

In Bowerstone Market, there’s a bookstore near the pub. You can buy plenty of books here that teach your dog tricks. Usually when you have one in your possession, a prompt to use a book will appear (press down on the D-pad to use it). Otherwise, just use it manually through your inventory.

Villager Achievements

· The Show Off (5)

When you get to Bowerstone, stand in front of any villager and target him with LT. Then choose a Fun expression (hold RB for all available expressions) and hold the expression until the shrinking zone shrinks as far as it will go. Now just hit that zone for the perfect expression and the achievement.

· The Spouse (10)

First, you need to buy some stuff – you need a house and a wedding ring. The blacksmith job in Bowerstone is the quickest way of earning money. Earn 10,000 and that should get you a house. Check the jeweller’s opposite the blacksmith to buy a cheap wedding ring. Once you have those, time to get married.

First, find someone you want to marry. Then press LT to target them and press Y to find out whether they are Straight, Bisexual or Gay (they might not be interested in you!) and what expressions they like and dislike. Use the expressions they like to build up their Love of you, until the slider hits the wedding ring on the right. Give them gifts to speed up the process.

When the slider is maxed out, a prompt will appear for the wedding ring. Press down on the D-pad to get engaged. Then move into the house you bought earlier by using the same sheet of paper on the outside of the house that you used to buy it and you’re married!

· The Parent (10)
Unless you’ve learnt the appropriate expression, you need to wait for your partner to invite you to bed. Fortunately, the game does this automatically after your first marriage as part of the tutorial. When invited to bed, choose the Thumbs Up icon that appears (right on the D-pad). Then head to the bed in your married home and when you’re both standing by the bed, press A. You’ll have an option for Protected Sex and Unprotected Sex. Choose Unprotected Sex and repeat until you have a child. Needless to say, this won’t work with same sex marriages!

· The Bigamist (10)
Follow the same steps you did to get married the first time but make sure it’s in another town, just to avoid any complications with your current partner!

Other Achievements

· The Cliff Diver (5)

When you get to the town beyond Oakfield, there’s a pirate inside the pub who demands you buy him a drink. Do so and accept his quest to find the pirate ghost and the treasure. You need to dive down to access the lower part of the cave and this dive is high enough to trigger the achievement.

· The Workhouse (10)

You need to get a 10-chain for this achievement to unlock. The easiest way to get this early on is to get a job at the pub in Bowerstone. Check the paper nailed to the wall outside the pub to get the job. If you’re still struggling, wait until you get to the wood chopping job in Oakfield, it’s really easy there.

· The Hero Of Many Names (5)

Change your title by talking to the Town Crier when you first get to Bowerstone, he’ll be one of the first characters you see. The Chicken Chaser title is free if you kicked enough at the start. Change your title to that, then change it back to whatever you want (unless you actually want to be called Chicken Chaser, of course).

· The Property Magnate (10)

Quite a tough one but easy if you’re patient. You can do this with the house your family lives in, if married. The main ways to drive up the price of the house is to improve the house and improve the economy of the town. You can improve the house by replacing all the furniture with Luxury furniture and improve the economy by spending lots of money in that town and not stealing.

Another way of doing this is killing EVERYONE in a particular town, which will drive the house prices down. Buy a house then leave. Come back later and do community service to the guards (or pay the fine if you can afford it) to erase your crimes, then start spending money in the town again. This will see the value of your house quickly reach double what you paid for it.

· The Rogue (5)

When the sun rises, you’ll hear that the stalls are declared to be open by the town crier but it takes a while for stall owners and shops to open. Break into a shop and steal from the cash register before the owner shows up – often, the people milling around the streets count as the someone ’nearby’ you need to trigger the achievement. Best done in Albion but obviously, try not to do this and property magnate at the same time.

· The Illustrated Hero (5)

In Bowerstone’s Old Town, there’s a tattooist. Get a tattoo on your body and face and once the achievement is triggered, you can remove the tattoos if you want.

· The Executioner (10)

This is easier when you have some renown and a good trophy to show off. First of all, you need to join the Temple of Shadows. You’ll notice it’s at the end of the path where the road forks away from Oakvale’s entrance but you can’t join until your renown is high enough. You’ll receive a prompt when the Temple of Shadows is open to you.

Once you’ve joined, go to Oakvale and stand amongst a group of farmers and show off your trophy with the highest renown number. This will get their attention and often brings other people nearby. Entertain them all with Fun expressions and then individually tell them to follow. Count the number you have in your group. If you have less than ten, target individual people and raise their Love for you with the appropriate expressions, then tell them to follow.

Then simply lead this crowd to the Temple of Shadows. Head down the stairs, to the big wheel and pull the lever when they’re all standing on the platform.

· The Gambler (10)

All you have to do is earn 500 Gold in a single pub game session in any pub. It’s just a matter of picking a game, learning the rules and then getting the rub of the green. For the achievement to trigger, you need to have played all the pub games at least once.

· The Pied Piper (10)

When you dance, you’ll notice that your target will dance with you if they like you enough. You need to get five people to dance with you for this achievement, so just build everyone’s Love for you up first by using the right expressions, showing off any trophies you have and so on.

· The Black Knight (5)

There are plenty of Hollow Men to kill throughout the game and you’re forced to fight them in The Crucible, so don’t worry about missing out on these enemies. You also fight them when you meet Sister Hannah for the first time but you’re under pressure to kill them quickly there, so it’s better to wait for The Crucible. Hollow Men are the zombie like creatures with glowing eyes, in case you’re wondering.

Unlock the ability to aim by boosting your Skill Accuracy to level 3 (which allows you to target individual body parts), then shoot a Hollow Man’s weapon, head and finish him off for the achievement. Hollow Men nearly always attack in groups, so kill the whole group bar the last one you want to get the achievement on.

· The Duelist (5)

You need to build up your Brutal Styles to level 3. This tells you how to chain attacks together and onscreen prompts will let you know when you have successfully done so. Complete a full speed chain for the achievement – you’ll probably do this anyway if melee attacks are your standard way of dealing damage.

· The Sharpshooter (5)

You need to hit three enemies with a single shot and Hollow Men are good targets. In The Crucible, allow them to spawn and surround you and use Time Control (if you have it) when they get close. As they surround you, run from them and they’ll amble towards you in a straight line, making it easy to line up a shot that will get them all. Easiest with a weapon like Blunderbuss.

· The Archmage (5)

You have to kill five humans with one spell and it’s pretty easy to do. Just build up a spell that has an area effect and use it when you’re surrounded by five humans. Level 4 Blades in The Crucible is probably the most practical way of doing this but anyway way will do.

· The Ruler Of Albion (100)

The first hefty achievement points wise, it takes a while to build up. You need to buy houses and rent them out as well as buying stalls and stands. It’s a strange achievement in that it gets easier as you accrue more health, because you can buy more houses, stalls, business and so on. You need to rake in 2.5 million so if you aren’t worried about being corrupt, jack up the rent and the prices you sell goods for at the stalls. Make sure you buy the pubs, as these are expensive but very good sources of income.

· The Hoarder (25)

You need to collect every single silver key in the game for this achievement. When you have a look at a specific region on the pause menu, you’ll notice it tells you how many silver keys are left in that area. Train your dog to sniff out treasure using the book store in Bowerstone and scour the world to find the silver keys.

· The Goth (5)

Dye your hair black, wear black clothes and black make-up for this achievement. You can get black make-up at any stylist while you need black dye to change your hair colour. You can also apply the dye to your clothes, so do so for the achievement.

· The Paragon (15)

The easiest way to do this is to become evil. Once you’re confident you can kill villagers in one shot from your projectile weapon (this just makes it easier), save your game, enter a town and turn the safety off your weapon. Start killing as many villagers and town guard as possible and your evil quota will ramp up. Save your game beforehand if you don’t want to remain evil. You receive evil bonuses for stealing, killing non-threatening animals and completing evil missions, so keep a look out for those opportunities.

· The Extremist (15)

Not quite as quickfire as becoming pure evil, it’s easier to become 100% corrupt than 100% pure. Charge high rent and high prices for your property, sleep for seven days to wait for good jobs to appear, commit evil deeds and eat food that has a negative purity value.

· The Celebrity (50)

Reaching the necessary 50,000 renown takes ages but get in the habit of showing off your trophy whenever you enter a village and take up any missions that offer renown as a bonus. Also commission the statue-maker in Oakfield to make some statues of you. Some of the story missions require you to have a certain level of renown anyway, so you won’t be going out of your way by doing this.

· The Artisan (10)

The least fun achievement but probably the most important, as the money you gain gives you a good foothold into Fable II (unless you have Fable II Pub Games cash, of course!). All the jobs are boring but the blacksmith is probably the best in that it’s not too much longer than the other jobs and when maxed out, gives you 100 gold per completed sword. So get that done nice and early then buy some houses, so you don’t have to worry about money.

· The Muse (5)

When you get to Oakfield, head to the big pub near the centre. If the pub is open, you’ll notice a bard often sits in the corner. Pay him 10 gold and he’ll sing a song about you, unlocking the achievement.

Co-Op

· The Companions (5), The Double Threat (5)

For these, you need to create a co-op match and pull off the perfect expression at the same time (The Companions) and attack an enemy at the same time (The Double Threat).
