[E3 2012] Castlevania Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate

Mirror of Fate takes place 25 years after the events of Lords of Shadow. Which reveals that Gabriel is the father of Trevor Belmont, and hopes to straighten out the games timeline and the Belmont clan. The game looks to detail the struggle of the first Belmonts against that of their shameful past.

Gameplay is said to be primarily in 2D and 2.5D, though there are sections of the game that will shift into a fully 3D environments, with polygon-based graphics. Gameplay is split between four main characters, each with their own abilities and weapons. With two characters confirmed, Trevor, and Simon. Who each wield their own whip, Trevor wielding the Combat Cross, and Simon using the Vampire Killer. The mirror of fate is said to connect the characters together in Dracula’s Castle, with certain areas only being accessible by certain characters until they create a change in the castle. It is also said that the game will switch between the four characters at predetermined story points, so nonlinear exploration and discovery is encouraged to find everything during that time. The game also makes use of the touch screen to give players the ability to mark places they’d like to re-visit later, and make notes.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate looks to be another solid title in the series portable releases. The release date is to be announced sometime in 2013.
