During a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, executive director for Red Steel 2 Alain Corre confirmed that the game has been in development for many months, and that the game is going to use Wii MotionPlus technology. Corre is aware of the lukewarm reception the first game recieved, and believes that "people understood that it was a first try on new technology, technology that wasn't completely finished. And our game tried to grab the best out of it, and was a bit rushed to be sure to offer something in year one to Wii consumers". With this new game, he hopes that the team can fully embrace the power of the Wii, and not shovel out a 75% finished game.

The PLAY ZONE label will provide them with the best games to mingle and compete together in a fun and friendly atmosphere” said John Parkes, Ubisoft’s EMEA Marketing Director.

Ok, let's analyze a portion of this press release.

This segment:

The PLAY ZONE titles will provide immediate entertainment&recreation thanks to original and numerous mini-games to be shared by all family members and friends.

Actually means:

The PLAY ZONE titles will provide immediate entertainment & recreation revenue for Ubisoft thanks to the original and numerous minigames of questionable quality we pump into these games...

This looks to be like a lot more shovel ware for Wii. It's good in the short term for Ubisoft and Nintendo (ie $$$), but will all this minigame bonanza cost them "core gamers?" Ubisoft, at least release some more minigame-less titles like.... a Red Steel, but one that actually works well. But hey, what can you do? If it sells, it sells. Right?

Tom Clancy's EndWar beta footage leaked; Update

Ahhh the wonderful world of youtube and the disregarding of non-disclosure agreements. A beta tester for Tom Clancy's EndWar has broken his NDA and posted some video of the game in action on youtube. The video above is posted for your enjoyment...although it may not be much due to lack of video and audio quality. Take in the moving pictures while you can because there's a good chance the video will be taken down from youtube once Ubisoft's lawyers catch wind of this.

Update: Sorry folks. The video was pulled.
