CVG is reporting that "development sources" close to them have revealed that PS3 firmware update 2.5 will include a new screen capture function. If this turns out to be true, not only would it be great to take pictures of priceless in game moments you'd like to show off to your friends, but it could come in handy to us reviewers for a nice and easy way to get screen grabs.

That reminds us, do you have any in game moments you're particularly proud about and would like to show off? Go ahead. We're listening....err, reading that is....

Metallic Silver DS Lite heading to store shelves?

GameStop Metallic Silver DS Lite listing

If the picture to the left of a GameStop listing is correct, we may be seeing a Metallic Silver DS Lite coming out very soon. Maybe even as soon as September 7th, if the date next to the listing is correct. So what about the $25 price next to the listing? Don't get your hopes up. It's more than likely a place holder price or the cost to reserve a Metallic Silver DS Lite.

So, who's up for a silver colored DS Lite?

Rumor: Pikmin 3 due out in March 2009?

Pikmin 3 release date on Play.com

Even though Pikmin 3 was not dated at E3 this year, it looks like Play.com is pretty sure that it's coming out on March 27, 2009. With Nintendo taking a more Apple like approach, announce your product and release it shortly thereafter, GDC or a Spring Nintendo media summit would be good places to announce Pikmin with a March release date. With this in mind, it looks like there is a possibility we will see Pikmin release next Spring alongside Wii Sports Resort, similar to how Super Smash Brothers: Brawl and Mario Kart Wii were released relatively close to each other in North America this past Spring. Even if it does not release next spring, at least we now we have a confirmation that Pikmin 3 is being made.

Nintendo DS Lite

Matt Casamassina of IGN has once again posted a juicy rumor that goes a little bit like this:

IGN has separately heard from trusted insiders that Nintendo could be planning to debut a slimmed down version of its handheld complemented by a dramatically reduced (sub-$100) price tag. Whether or not this made-over DS will include built-in accelerometer functionality is not known. There is a chance that the Big N will show off the updated DS at E3 2008 this week.

Check out Casamassina's full post here.

And as for us, we think it's likely. In fact, very likely.

Motus' Motion controller

Microsoft's rumored motion sensing controler may have just been revealed today by Motus Games. Motus Games has announced the above motion sensing controller, code named Darwin, and stated that it will be available for purchase and use on PC, XBOX 360, and PlayStation 3. The intertubes have been set ablaze today with speculation that this is the rumored XBOX 360 motion controller.

The XBOX 360 "Newton" connection (Provided by Joystiq):

 1. "Darwin shares a similar color pallette with the Xbox 360 pad."

2. "There are similarities in the name Darwin and the purported codename for Microsoft's motion controller, Newton."

3. "E3 is days away and everyone is getting antsy"

Skepticism (provided by us):

1. The controller looks like it could be intimidating to casual gamers and that's exactly who they want to attract.

2. The controller is not made by Microsoft. If Microsoft really wanted to put full effort intoWii territory, they would probably do it themselves and not leave it to a third party.

3. Microsoft's supposed controller is code named Newton, not  Darwin.

4. If this was a big effort on Microsoft's part, this controller would not support the PS3.

European Nintendo Magazine, NMag, has "confirmed" that Animal Crossing and Punch Out!! Wii! will be officially announced at E3 next week.

Heres the quote from the NMag E3 article:

"And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven’t played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo’s great hopes for 2008.
