Kirby’s Star Stacker

Developed by HAL Laboratory, inc.
Published by Nintendo
System: Gameboy

I’ve decided to start the feature off with one of my favorite puzzle games on the Gameboy system, and one of my favorite puzzle games of all time. Despite being a major Nintendo franchise, Kirby’s Star Stacker has never seen a huge amount of attention anywhere I’ve looked. This would be understandable if it were a mediocre title (Tilt N’ Tumble, nice try), but the gameplay of KSS alone should have made it a hit, with or without the Kirby template.

Marker Man Screen 1  Marker Man Screen 2

"It was just an ordinary day in the life of Marker Man, the loveable stick figure, and his pal Doodle Dog. That all ended abruptly, however, when Doodle went missing without a trace."

Although the storyline does sound corny, cheesey, hokey, schmaltzy, etc., the gameplay sounds like a ton of fun. The press release promises that in Marker Man players can "draw" their way through 150 physics based puzzles by drawing different simple shapes to guide Marker Man from point "A" to point "B" in a "scrolling world."

For such a simple concept, Marker Man offers quite a bit of features:

  • "Collect power-ups to help you solve difficult puzzles

  • Use logic to make your way through themed levels including: Underwater, Outer Space, Snow/Ice, and more

  • Sandbox play allows you to manipulate the unique physics of Marker Man in an open area

  • Discover dozens of hidden areas and levels, each with unique surprises!

  • Challenge your skills in three escalating difficulty modes"

With this line rider-esque puzzle game including 150 puzzles, 3 difficulty modes, and a sandbox mode at a budget price tag of $19.99, I'll be looking to pick it up when it comes out this holiday season.

Portal 2 Job Listing

Kotaku tipster stumbled upon a job listing in an industry website calling for a voice actor in "PORTAL (VOICE OVER) Interactive Project" for Valve Software that tentatively starts at the end of July. Funny. Common sense would lead one to believe this is a confirmation of Portal 2. So, what other details (or concept art) did the job listing divulge? Well, if you want to find out you'll have to make the proverbial jump to the next page since we don't want anyone crying foul when spoilers are read/seen.

If you don't want to look, all we'll say is that Portal 2 is going to see some interesting story developments.
