Rumor: Wii Hard Drive Announced?; UPDATE: Fake

Wii Hard Drive?

Despite looking like a small air conditioning unit, if a poster on the GameTrailers forums is right, this may just be an external Wii hard drive. Write us down as highly skeptical for this one. We'll update this post with a confirmation or denial as soon as we find out more.

UPDATE: As our hunch led us to believe, it's just a portable air conditioning unit. A gamer can dream...a gamer can dream...

Animal Crossing GameCube Commercials

The above video comes to you from circa 2002-03. Although some of the self referencing humor is lost on those who haven't played the game, we think it is/was pretty good marketing. Good  on you Nintendo of 2002-03. Our favorite line? "Nice outfit. Where'd you get it? A garbage dump?" Response, "Uhhh, yeah." Well, it's technically two lines, but you get the point.

You can find 3 more laugh out loud Animal Crossing commercials after the break.

Miyamoto served gagging order from Nintendo

Shigeru Miyamoto with band-aids over his mouth

Love for puzzles turns into Brain Training. Love for dogs turns into Nintendogs. Passion for music turns into Wii Music. Getting into exercise births Wii Fit. Since Shigeru Miyamoto has a knack for turning his hobbies into games, it seems that Nintendo wants to keep his hobbies secret by restricting him from talking about his hobbies to the general public. As Destructoid points out, "...don't expect Shigeru to be revealing his fondness for stamp collecting anytime soon. The Big N has no intention of letting that potential goldmine slip." Personally, we can't wait for WiiGarden or WiiPaint to come out. We just love to watch grass grow and paint dry.

Metallic Silver DS Lite heading to store shelves?

GameStop Metallic Silver DS Lite listing

If the picture to the left of a GameStop listing is correct, we may be seeing a Metallic Silver DS Lite coming out very soon. Maybe even as soon as September 7th, if the date next to the listing is correct. So what about the $25 price next to the listing? Don't get your hopes up. It's more than likely a place holder price or the cost to reserve a Metallic Silver DS Lite.

So, who's up for a silver colored DS Lite?

Videogame Spotting: Donkey Kong and Mario energy drinks

Donkey Kong Energy DrinkMario Energy Drink

While walking by a shelf in an electronics store, I spotted two DK and Mario themed energy drinks that piqued my interest. After paying for the Donkey Kong energy drink, aptly named Jungle Juice, I cracked it opened and began to drink it's sweet jungle nectar. As the Jungle Juice ran down my throat I felt power surging from within me. With gorilla like force I grabbed the nearest princess and proceeded to climb up the closest sky scraper. Soon after, I was foiled by a gentlemen who drank one of the Mario energy drinks left at the store. You too can (not) experience this totally fabricated Mario and Donkey Kong  anecdote for $2.99 and $3.95, respectively.
