VGTribune Previews: C.O.R.E.

Kater

I was privileged enough to be able to preview a demo of C.O.R.E. devoloped  by NoWay Studios and published by Grafitti Entertainment.  C.O.R.E. is a DS FPS that comes out sometime this year.  My impressions are below:

C.O.R.E. is a DS First Person Shooter in which you play a solider on a mission in some kind of havoc stricken base due to a comet landing on Earth causing some alien plant life to appear.  In a Doom sort of fashion, you follow a linear path that involves taking down all enemies that oppose you.  There are mini-bosses and in-game cutscenes that guide you through as well as small journal entries you find from people at the base (very Metroid Prime-esque but no scanning).  Basically, you keep recieving mission updates from your commander and have to follow them, which is a cool feature.  Another thing I liked was having to obtain codes from one area to progress to another and having to get the keycard to move on.

Your must be thinking what I'm thinking, "Why didn't they do this sooner?!"  Not only is it a great concept, but now I can play a game inside a game!  Thats why I want to play WoW...so I can play Bejewled in WoW.  Yes, I understand this is for passing the time in WoW, but really -_-....

Classic videogame commercials; Why don't they make 'em like they used to?

Why don't they make videogame commercials like they used to? Sure we've had the Mario Kart Wii commercials that were lawl inducing and the Halo 3 cinematic commercials which were just amazing, but will we ever start to see a resurgence of these types of commercials like there was in the 80's and 90's?

Let us know what you think and what you're favorite game commercials are in the comments!

You can find one more old school commercial after the jump!

Initial "live" impressions of highly anticipated DS FPS C.O.R.E

Posted by Alan Ellis in PreviewNintendo DSFirst Person Shooters

Mraellis

Here are my initial live impressions of C.O.R.E. Kater's preview will be up this weekend.

You may perhaps notice it is done chatlog style. That it perhaps because it was done on msn while talking to the almighty site owner Alexis. I will be making a more proper preview soon, but these are my actual live impressions at the time of playing for the first time so you get 100% of my actual feelings and none of the "fixing things up and making it sound better" stuff.

 More after you continue reading;
