Slash claims that "Guitar Hero: Hendrix" is being developed

Posted by Hank Peters in SpeculationRhythmActivision

During a recent inteview with Rolling Stone magazine,  ex-Guns N' Roses guitar player Slash might have accidentally slipped out some information in regards to the newest Guitar Hero game.

"Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by," said Slash. "And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great."

When contacted by GameDaily, Activision stated that:

"We haven't announced any titles beyond our two highly-anticipated fall 2008 titles, Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades. 'No comment' on anything to the contrary."

Personally, if this was in development it wouldn't surprise me in the least, but I would definitely loose more respect to Activision/Neversoft for it. They've been heading down the "hey, look at me, me too" road with Guitar Hero: World Tour, and making another entry in the "band" themed Guitar Hero games would just look like a bad move. It doesn't help that Jimi Hendrix is the only cash-cow I know that continues to bring in more and more income over the years, depsite being dead for over three decades. Of course, since Slash is a renowned expert in video games, he could have been refering to DLC packs, or the songs already included in World Tour.

In the 21st Century that never was, Microsoft bought Nintendo

Peter Moore sez,

In an interview with The Gaurdian, no not Arnold Schwarzenneeggegegreger, but the British newspaper, former Microsoft big wig, Peter Moore mentioned that Microsoft had contemplated buying Nintendo. Apparently, when entering the console race Microsoft did not even see Nintendo as a threat and instead focused their sights on Sony.

"[Ballmer] wanted to know how I was going to win for Microsoft, how we were going to take on Sony, how would we compete with – or acquire – Nintendo. Those were the conversations in those days. It was a classic build or buy conversation. ... Interestingly, we were just completely fixated on Sony – Nintendo didn't even come into the conversation."

Now this introduces an interesting situation. What do you think Nintendo would be doing under the Microsoft umbrella (ella, ella)? Would Nintendo assist in hardware development or would it be restricted to work on games? Would have been able to release competing consoles? Or wouldn't even continue under the name Nintendo?

Our guess is that they would have aided in console development where needed, but they would have been relegated to developing games and making handhelds since Nintendo is the portable game system heavy weight.

Nintendo hold big Japanese press conference on October 2nd!

According to a report by business paper Nihon Securities Journal, Nintendo is set to hold a huge press conference in Japan on October the 2nd in order to announce new products!

What they're set to announce is anyone's guess.

Perhaps a Wii storage solution? (unlikely, but PLEASE DO!!)

Maybe a new DS revision?

Maybe even what I personally would love and they announce a new Gameboy. (Since the DS is not the GBA's successor)

It will most likely be Disaster: Day of Crisis though. Or another game they have been hiding from us thats due out soon.

"New" Blogger: The Grey Pilgrim

Posted by The Grey Pilgrim in New Blogger

The Grey Pilgrim

Hello, I've been on for about a week and though this should have been my first post, I think you'll find I don't work that way... but, anyway, I suppose you could call me one of VGtribunes "newer" bloggers. I am The Grey Pilgrim, but you may call me The Grey Pilgrim... or the Pilgrim.... or Michelle.

My real name, I will keep to myself. I don't want that getting leaked out and then the government gettting that chip implanted into my brain and tracking my thoughts again, now do I? I don't want to end up in that comfortable padded room again... oh, the voices, make the voices Stop mommy!

Oh... sorry... lost my train of thought. Anyway, as I was saying. I am a new writer on the site and I think you'll find that I do things a bit... differently than most and that my stories may be a bit... odd... at times. Among true news, you can expect me to throw in a few of my own... creations.  If you enjoy them, I'm glad, and if you don't, kindly blow it out your ass.
