For the first time in a while, we’ve had more than 24-hour notice of this event, which has allowed for rumor and speculation to take place among the citizens of the Internet. Nintendo has announced the next Nintendo Direct to take place at 9AM EST / 6AM PST.
Since the last Nintendo Direct was mainly talking about new games announcements, I don’t expect to hear anything we’ve not heard of before this time around, but I do hope to hear release dates on games that have generically been slotted a release date by quarter. Hoping something significant for Wii U coming soon with Rayman Legends getting bumped into fall ’13.

Nintendo’s second world-wide Nintendo Direct begins at 9AM EST, 6AM PST. Based on a translation of a message that appeared in Japanese, Iwata will be talking about the games coming out for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii in the near future. I somehow managed to be awake at this early time in North America to do a Live Blog of this world-wide simultaneous announcement.
This Nintendo Direct is a short one, only about 10 min in length. The fact that this message is being sent in all regions at the same moment means it is likely something big, something Nintendo doesn’t want us Westerners to “peek” at the Japanese message to get an idea of what’s going to happen.

With the shortest notice that I have ever seen Nintendo give for a Nintendo Direct, there will be a new Nintendo Direct starting at 11PM EDT (50 minutes from the time of this article posting) in Japan, with a North American Nintendo Direct to take place at 11:30PM.
No link to actually view this Nintendo Direct has been found yet. When it has been made available for public consumption, I’ll update this article with the stream link. The rumored topic for this event is 3DS games and their release dates.
UPDATE 1: The Japan Nintendo Direct was released a few minutes ago with a six-minute pre-recorded message of a disembodied Iwata head (in the style of the Brain Age floating head) talking about New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC. New levels for Coin Rush will be available on Tuesday, October 2nd for 200 yen. We will have North American dates and pricing when the Nintendo Direct for our region gets released in about 30 minutes from now.
UPDATE 2: The rumored 11:30PM time came and went without a video posted from Nintendo of America. I’d expect this video will come out some time tomorrow morning. When it does, we will have the video embedded to this article for all to see.
Today is the day! We finally get the information that we were wanting to hear since E3 2011 when the Wii U was officially announced to the world.
Today we get the release date and pricing. Nintendo Direct starts at 10AM EDT.
