First PlayStation Move Commercial jabs at Natal, Wii

The "Vice President of PlayStation" Kevin Butler is at it again. In the very first commercial for Sony's PlayStation Move, Sony makes sure to compare it to the Wii and Microsoft's Project Natal. On how accurate Move can be when it tracks movement, the fictional took a jab at waggle, "'Not just like this (waggle motion), but like this . . . 'Cause real boxers don't hit like this (waggle)."

Now onto Project Natal bashing. On its lack of buttons: "Plus, PlayStation move is not only crazy precise, it's also got what we in the future call "buttons," which turn out to be pretty important to those handful of millions of people who enjoy playing a shooter or platformers or, well, anything that doesn't involve catching a big red ball. I mean, come on, who wants to pretend their hand is a gun. What is this? The Third grade? Pew. Pew. Pew. Pew. *skeptical laughter*"

3D Dot Heroes still looks Amazing

Trailer of the Week: Resonance of Fate

Has anyone heard of a little title known as Resonance of Fate, or End of Eternity in Japan? It's a PS3/Xbox360 game that was developed by Tri-Ace a solid game company who makes exceptional Role Playing Games. However, the most surprising fact about this game is that it was released today in the US and I haven't heard a word from Sega about this game nor have I seen any other game websites covering this game.

It's almost like Sega wants this game to fail? I don't know why since it looks exceptional, and usually don't publishers want games to do well? If you played this game or even heard about it let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Green Day Rock Band coming June 8th

A full standalone Green Day themed version of Rock Band will be shipping worldwide June 8th according to a release from Electronic Arts earlier this week, the game will feature 47 exportable tracks, rare access to the Green Day media vault with over 40 minutes of footage, artist likeness and more.

The game will feature the three-part vocal harmony technology Harmonix introduced in The Beatles: Rock Band, an incredible 47 strong list will be playable which spans the career of the band. Tracks include 'Brain Stew' , 'Jaded', 'American Idiot' and 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'. All 47 tracks are fully exportable into Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3. Green Day DLC already available in the Rock Band store will also be playable in the new game.

Green Day: Rock Band will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii everywhere on June 8th and is Rated T for Teen.

Rock Band DLC goes Gaga this week, South Park cover also available.

This weeks DLC announcement for Rock Band is a little more exciting than usual not only do we have songs by Grammy Award Winning artist Lady Gaga we also have songs by 3 Doors Down, Mute Math, The Subways and South Parks own Eric Cartman.

Nintendo fans ‘Flatline’, Sony announce nunchuck style add on for Move at GDC

Well in case you missed the announcement yesterday at GDC, Sony's Motion Control technology will be called 'Playstation Move'.

The whole package will launch for the holidays and will be available for under a $100 and will contain a game, the move wand and a PS Eye camera.

What's more interesting is the 'nunchuck' like add-on Sony also showed us, yes folks it's a nunchuck. Sony is looking to take on the Wii's heavy market share in Motion Control and they think they can do it. And do it well.

"Nothing has ever been this precise, this responsive," said Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studios.

He said that the device was "more precise, immersive and responsive" than rival controllers, and that it "breathes new life into new game genres".

Sony's Peter Dille, head of hardware marketing at SCEA, added that there was "not a high level of precision" in the Wii which gives PS3 Move the advantage as precision "drives the core gamer".

Sony is already marketing Move aggressively with impressive on stage demo's at places like GDC they are really trying to push it out the door and into Nintendo's face.

PS3 3D update coming in June

A firmware update that will give the Ps3 'Full' 3D capabilities will launch on June 10th according to comments from Sony via Reuters.

"The maker of the PlayStation 3 game console plans to release 3D game software around June in time for TV launch"

The update will coincide with the launch of Sony's 3D TV range which they hope will rival Samsung, the update will allow PS3 consoles to be able to display compatible Blu-Ray fulsm in 3D as well as Sony's upcoming 3D range of games, users will need a compatible TV (Which apparently arrive in the UK in June, Convenient.) but we're guessing Sony will only be to happy to supply you with one of those as well as a pair of 3D specs which you will also require.

To date Ubisoft’s Avatar is the only game to offer a 3D mode, though the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition will also offer a limited selection of 3D levels but if the whole 3D hullabaloo kicks up again expect many new 3D capable titles to be on the shelf this holiday.

UPDATE: Reader Guy 3DTV dug up some information and it looks like the upcoming Batman title will not be in 3D. Check the comments section for more details!

Playstation Move: Games Announced

With the announcement of the Playstation MOVE hot off the presses we have some new games to look forward to that will show off Moves power.

The first game in the list is a sports game called Sports Champions. This is evidently Sony's version of Wii sports but in a lot better graphics. So far only two of the game types where shown and these where a Gladiator Type game mode where you get to smash enemy's up in a arena with different weapons, it looks quite fun and bloody. The other game is Wii Table Tennis.. but I'm sure no-one minds playing table tennis again when it looks this much nicer.

The next title is called Move Party and is apparently for chat and social networking… It seems to be the default eye toy game like what we were used to on the Playstation 2 but with the move controller. It allows us to paint walls, cut hair and catch things.

Now for the Little Big Planet Move DLC. We have seen this before but Little Big planet seems to really suit move and adds a whole new level of game play. I personally cant wait to screw people up by moving the ground on them.

Then we have a new update/version of Eyepet. We should have known this game would involve move at some point because playing with Milo your pet just screams motion controller.

Another title that is being made is a “Motion Fighter” game. This is basically Live boxing with 2 move controllers which is similar to punch-out but allows for some very dirty fighting and some blood. We have to admit this one doesn’t look very responsive though.

Socom4 was also shown briefly and allows you to play the entire game with either the dual shock 3/sixasis or the move with its sub controllers including a analogue stick. I have to say Socom 4 looks nice.

Well that's the wrap up for the games announced so far but apparently there will be ‘Tons’ of Third Party support for Move but no games have been mentioned so far. What do you think of these games announced so far? Do you see similarity's with the Wii? Please tell us in the comments.

Sony Conference Live Blog – Sony lack originality: motion controller called move.

Sony has just confirmed in there GDC talk that the motion controller is called move. Sony are currently calling it a new gen in motion controller and they just thanked Nintendo as inspiration and called that the Wii was a great idea. Its apparently incredibly advanced and so sensitive that its very precise. WOW.

Drama in the Game Industry: Activision vs Infinity Ward

Earlier this week a dispute popped up between popular publishers Activision, and the Call of Duty 2, 4, and Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward. The two top men at Infinity Ward, the founders Vince West and Jason Zampella, were fired by Activision for disputes in the creative future of the Call of Duty series. Activision also has announced that this years Call of Duty will be developed by Treyarch while leaving the year afters for a new company. Infinity Ward will seemingly not have another CoD game out until 2011.

To continue this interesting tale. Vince and Jason will be suing Activision for over 36 million in damages. This is due to the fact that a contract was signed that they have a right to any post Vietnam era creative games in the Call of Duty franchise. So with the founders of Infinity Ward gone, it leaves for some speculation, will they go off to create their own company, will people from Infinity Ward follow, and what will happen to Infinity Ward. Activision promises that Infinity Ward will stay a crucial company in the Call of Duty world but really how so? I would also like to point out what happened last time Activision tried this maneuver, it was called Guitar Hero III versus Rock Band. When the creators of Guitar Hero were kicked out and created Harmonix, which is now their ultimate competition who has taken the lead in the once Activision only rhythm band genre.
