It’s Saturday, and let’s face it, there’s probably some point in the day at which you have no idea what to do with yourself. You’ve already gamed, visited family, went out to the store, ate, watched TV and probably even had a nap. What now? Why not support a good cause, like the Halton Autistic Family Support Group, and watch a few friends game until . . . well, they either pass out or finish. It’s kind of like NASCAR. Except you die in NASCAR . . . or your car catches on fire instead of passing out from 72 hours of playing Metroid games. A little less exciting, but these guys are 20 times better than NASCAR.

Name: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth

Release Date: 2/16/10
Genre: Point and Click Adventure
Rating: T

Eureka! We are back with another installment in the popular Ace Attorney franchise. Its been two years since we were last in the courts with Apollo Justice and it seems that we will have to wait a bit longer because in Ace Attorney Investigations, the player takes the role of Miles Edgeworth as he uses logic to deduct what really happens at each crime scene. The game takes a fresh and new approach on the Ace Attorney series introducing the first major changes that the series has seen since its creation. I appreciate that they are taking creative liberties, however, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

Whoops! Ya got me! I slipped up! Please don't tell Iwata.

As the recipient of a “Special Achievement Prize” during a symposium at the 13th Annual Japan Media Arts Festival on Saturday, Shigeru “loose lips” Miyamoto had time to spill two tidbits of information while up on stage. Not only has Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is working on some new hardware, but he mentioned that he is hard at work on a Wii MotionPlus game other than the upcoming Zelda title.

Let’s face it, the fact that Nintendo is working on some new hardware doesn’t require a crystal ball, or even a fortune cookie, to figure out. Nintendo has likely been working on hardware to replace both the Wii and DS since their respective launches (see: DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL). But do the amount of rumors building up as of late point to an imminent hardware announcement? That was definitely the case for that thing that Apple is making.

Let us know what you think in the comments!

Is Nintendo going to be announcing something major at GDC soon? One of VideoGamer’s sources seems to think so. The source, an employee at a “major international publisher” had this to say:

“Just heard a rumour that you may be interested in: Nintendo are going to announce a new platform at GDC. Some devs have already started work on it.”

While the source was confident of the platform’s existence, he noted that it was only a possibility that the console would be revealed at GDC. While we’re also sure that Nintendo has some sort of new platform under wraps (it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out), we doubt that it’ll se the light of day at GDC. Why would Nintendo be ready to announce a new console so soon? Read the rest of this entry »

After just finishing the Ace Attorney Investigations Demo, I thought I would post a bit of impressions on it so you, dear readers, can get a feel for it without even having to reach for your DS!

Basically this is an Ace Attorney game without the court room scene so it is one giant investigation. However, they spice up the investigation part a bit to make it much more interesting. First off, the boring point and click investigations are no more! Now players move Edgeworth around and then select what they want him to look at.

Who’s my favorite top-selling handheld gaming console? That’s right Nintendo DS, it’s you – and you deserve it.

Between the original DS, the updated “DS Lite,” and the new DSi, Nintendo’s double screened handheld has topped over 125 million in hardware sales – enough to populate an entire country! At the current writing, there are more Nintendo DS systems in the world than citizens of France. Or the United Kingdom. Combined. It’salmost enough to equip every man, woman, and child in Japan for a nation-wide Mario Kart DS tournament – but enough with the national metrics – let’s just say Nintendo has sold a LOT of handheld consoles.

We salute you, Nintendo DS handhelds – you won the console wars. Also, you beat France.

A Pokemon enthusiast took it upon himself to redesign all the Pokemon as traditional Japanese art.  And so far it looks really cool.  He is currently done with the first 251 Pokemon and we think he’s planning to recreate them all.  You can find all of his work by clicking here. We’ll update more when he has created more Pokemon pieces.

Might we recommend taking a look at the Jigglypuff family? They all look . . . evil.

Nintendo’s feature primetime advertisement featuring popular UK duo Ant and Dec has been named one of the most annoying adverts of 2009 according to a survey carried out by Adwatch.

Nintendo picked Ant and Dec because of their mainstream appeal to wide audiences ranging from children to grandmas. The ads they star in highlight the many faces of Nintendo including the Wii, DS and several of Nintendo’s family friendly titles such as Mario Kart.

Marketing Magazine lists the ad as tied for ninth most annoying advert of 2009. At the top of the rankings were GO Compare’s ‘ANNOYING’ opera singer followed by Cash4Gold, Glade Touch ‘n’ Fresh and very surprisingly the 188 247 advert (Created by Weebl, from Weebl and Bob).

It’s not just about being annoying says Andy Nairn of ad agency MCBD:
